What to know about Classical guitars:
Classic guitars is the most historical and long time ago built stringed instruments in Europe, also known as the nylon-string guitar or Spanish guitar because most of famous Classical guitar builders come from Spain and their traditional musical instrument is the nylon string classical guitars. The name guitar comes from Persian language, in which Tar means string. Also Italy and Germany have had great classical guitar builders in the past centuries. Classical guitars are derived from the Spanish Vihuela and Gittern in the 15th and 16th century, which later evolved into the 17th and 18th century Baroque guitar and later the modern Classical Guitar in the mid 19th century. The materials and the methods of classical guitar construction may vary, but the typical shape is either modern classical guitar or that historic classical guitar similar to the early romantic guitars of France and Italy.
Which strings used on Classical guitars:
Classical guitar strings was made of gut are now made of such polymers as nylon, with fine wire wound on the acoustically lower (bass side) strings. The gut is very sensible for humidity and temperature changes and it was really hard to keep them in tune and it is very expensive. Today the Aquila Cordes in Italy still makes original gut strings for historical instruments and produces modern NylGut classic guitar strings to reproduce the nearest sounding of gut strings.
What is the difference between Classical and Flamenco guitars?
The flamenco guitar derives from the modern classical guitars, but has differences in material, construction and sound. The Flamenco guitar is a guitar similar to classical guitar but with thinner tops and less internal bracing. It is used in Toque, the guitar-playing part of the art of flamenco. The traditional Flamenco guitar is made of Spanish Cypress, Sycamore, or Rosewood for the back and sides, and spruce for the top. Flamenco guitars are built lighter with thinner tops and less internal bracing than classical guitars, which produces a "brighter" and more percussive sound. The volume and dynamic has traditionally been very important for flamenco guitarists, as they must be heard over the sound of the dancers’ nailed shoes. The flamenco guitars is often equipped with a tap plate (so-called golpeador), commonly made of plastic, similar to a pickguard, whose function is to protect the body of the guitar from the rhythmic finger taps.
